The end of 2020. I have decided that I will start my blog before the end of the year. Even if my first post is at 11:59 pm on December 31. Starting a blog was one of my 2020 New Year’s Resolutions. It was also my 2019 and 2018 New Year’s Resolution but let us put a pin in that for a bit.
Why did it take me so long? There could be several reasons, simple procrastination, COVID-19, giant attacking dust bunnies. All are reasons not to have started the blog sooner but not my reason.
I was simply overloaded with information. I watched videos on how to start a blog. Joined groups and even took a class and talked to other bloggers. The information I gleaned from these sources paralyzed me with fear.
There were fancy terms like Branding: Was this a tattoo so bloggers could recognize each other? Marketing: Were they talking about grocery shopping? Affiliation: Does this involve a secret handshake?
I would spend a whole day reading the great resources out there from other bloggers. People who knew the world of blogging and shared the information. One would think I would welcome all this knowledge, but it intimidated me. Instead of working on my blog I cleaned my toilets.
To be honest what really scared me was the term niche. I needed to find a niche for my blog. An example of a niche is crafting. That will not work for me. The last time I used a glue gun unsupervised was a catastrophe. Picture a hot glue spider web that has trapped the family pet in the living room. I am still finding harden glue bits.
My blog I want to give you a giggle. Honestly, I want to make you laugh so hard you piddle in your pants. I couldn’t find a niche that fit my idea for my blog.
I was concerned that I wouldn’t get followers. I know that not writing the blog means no followers. I wanted it to be perfect.
I decided not to worry about the perfect blog. Perfection has never been my strong suit. I think middle age has made me feel it’s time to shape up and do everything perfect. That is not going to work for me. I am just going to do it and be dammed everything that scared me. I will blaze my own path. I may have imperfections. I will have at least 20 followers if I make an emails for my chickens and ducks.
Please join me when you can for a few giggles as I travel this adventure. I am going without a road map so our destination will be a surprise. I just hope they have coffee and chocolate when we arrive.
Notice this was posted a day before December 31st at 11:59pm Win!
